Cindy (she/her) has been actively involved at the Fellowship for five years, having moved to Colorado in 2019 from Atlanta, Georgia. She was a member and active at UUCA, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta for 20 years. Cindy was raised in a reform Jewish home in Miami, Florida. Upon discovering the UU religion, she felt much more aligned with its amazing inclusivity, social justice, and loving acceptance.
Cindy graduated with a master’s degree in psychology. She then went to school to become a Licensed Massage Therapist. For 37 years, she maintained a thriving private practice utilizing both, as well as teaching classes in baby massage and couple’s massage. In addition, for eight years, Cindy worked at the Thomas F. Chapman Family Cancer Wellness Program at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. During this time, she was able to use all her skills leading a couple’s support group, providing chair massage for patients with cancer, subbing for yoga classes, and creating many enriching and supportive workshops. During the pandemic, Cindy became a certified End-of-Life Doula, allowing her to integrate her training, along with 20 years as a Hospice volunteer. She has been able to share this with BVUUF as one of the three facilitators for the Thoughtful Endings Affinity group, three years as a Lay Pastoral Care Associate (LPCA), and has led a bereavement Support Group. Cindy also is on the Hospitality Committee and CoSM.
Cindy lives in Lafayette with her husband, Joseph, and their two cats, Jasper and Casey. Cindy is very active with the Djembe Orchestras of Colorado, having drummed for 23 years. She loves to read, kayak, travel, walk, do yoga, play mahjong, and receive massages.
