Today we know much about communications among plant and animal life, previously assumed to be non-sentient. Recent writing, such as Suzanne Simard’s Finding the Mother Tree, about how trees communicate with one another, illustrates what they can teach us about interpersonal relationships. Likewise with flowers: it’s no surprise that in the 1940s, Rev. Norbert Capek centered a communion ceremony for war-ridden Unitarians on flowers.
Today, bring blossoms to create community bouquets for our traditional UU Flower Ceremony; take away blossoms gifted by others. Online participants, plan to share images of flowers and other blossoms over Zoom. Service led by Rev. Barbara Coeyman with Service Associate Nicolette Toussaint.
