When congregations say they want to grow, this usually means growing in number of congregants. However, congregations cannot just will a growth in numbers. Increasing numbers in a congregation are nurtured by other types of growth, such as spiritual deepening, organizational maturity, and outreach to the community. In fact, sometimes growth in numbers is met by explicit or implicit resistance. Growth of all types happens best when we remain open to new ideas, new possibilities for building community. Where does BVUUF stand in matters of growth? Do multiple arenas of growth lie in our future? Led by Rev. Barbara Coeyman, Interim Minister, and Service Associate Nicolette Toussaint.
