For many years, the members of the Fellowship, in particular the Immigration Justice Task Force, have been concerned about the unjust and inhumane treatment of immigrants.
The Immigration Justice Task Force is made up of Fellowship members interested in learning more about our immigration system and in taking actions to support immigrants. Members receive information about current immigration issues, such as legislation related to the border and challenges with citizenship processings.
The Immigration Justice Task Force is associated with other local groups that advocate for immigration justice, such as Together Colorado, Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC), and the Boulder Area Sanctuary and Immigration Coalition (BASIC). We are called on to participate in actions which support our immigrant neighbors.
Some of these actions include:
The Fellowship is a member of CIRC, so congregants may attend north region meetings and the state assembly, and vote on state legislative priorities for the organization.
Many congregants volunteered to help support the family who was in sanctuary at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder up until recently. Some members have participated in vigils at the Aurora Detention Center and other live actions in the Boulder and Denver areas.
The task force hopes to soon resume in-person information and discussion sessions at the Fellowship.
Contact Bob Norris for further information and opportunities to participate.
